TRANSFORM researcher Korey McKay at the University of Graz, Austria

Korey McKay, a Master of Climate Change (MCC) student at the University of Waterloo, has started an international exchange at University of Graz’s Institute of Systems Sciences, Innovation and Sustainability Research. As part of her research role in the TRANSFORM project, she will research transformative business models and practices of local enterprises that contribute to sustainability and resilience in the local space. During her time at the Institute, Korey will have the opportunity to collect data on small businesses in Austria and pilot the first field research of TRANSFORM. Additionally, she will interview TRANSFORM research partners from the European research hubs and collaborate on existing projects at the Institute that focus on transformative business models. She is working closely with the Waterloo research team, and with Dr. Rupert Baumgartner in Graz, a senior scholar working on circular economy, business strategies and climate change.

Her work is funded jointly by TRANSFORM lead by Dr. Sarah Burch at the Sustainability Policy Research on Urban Transformations Lab at University of Waterloo and the Mitacs Globalink Research Award.
