TRANSFORM Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Dr. Jose Di Bella, was invited to present at the special global Annual General Meeting of the ARISE Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies! The special session, titled “Ensuring Business Resilience to Adapt to Climate Change and Extreme Weather Events”, included speakers from around the world and sought to assess the ways that the private sector can shape disaster risk reduction and facilitate climate change adaptation globally.
The session’s objectives included:
- Catalyzing robust conversations among ARISE members, harnessing insights from the Midterm Review of the Sendai Framework.
- Dissecting strategies for SMEs to fortify themselves against climate-related adversities, spotlighting the pivotal role of insurance.
- Discovering viable strategies that empower businesses to navigate an evolving climate landscape with resilience and ingenuity.
- Showcasing the initiatives of select networks/members to provide concrete examples of practical projects and actions ARISE members took to inspire and demonstrate the potential impact of collaborative and innovative approaches to addressing disaster risks.
Jose’s presentation was “Building private sector capacities for disaster risk reduction and strengthening disaster governance in Central America”.
